2012: Our 20th Year

2011 was our busiest year to date........

Although, not without challenges it must be said, we were delayed in cutting down a water intake to a de-commissioned Power Station in Scotland where birds were nesting, they will have to find a new home this year though, because as soon as they flew the nest we took the structure down with a diamond wire cutting rig that proved very successful and the video is worth looking at, even though we do say so ourselves. Click on the ROV page on the link above.

We were tasked to cut down the old Iron Ore Wharf in Cardiff Bay with underwater hydraulic chainsaws and in doing so created nesting posts in a new bird sanctuary, the homeless Scottish birds would be very welcome at the new home in South Wales.

Weather & Wildlife

It wasn't all about birds, we built a fish pass for a large Chemical company that started life as a relatively straight forward project but once the various Consultants had their input it became more of a fish motel.

The Summer was the worst for 21 years and slowed our progress for lifting the protective concrete sleeves around the steel piles of a large and famous pier on the South Coast of England, the sleeves are a hefty weight and the barge understandably needs to be a relatively stable, but once in place they really are doing the intended job well and will increase the lifetime of the piles dramatically.

Mid year

Seawork exhibition in June proved too much for us this year as we were simply too busy allthough we did manage to supply a dive team to man the demonstration tank on the jetty which got our divers ugly mugs into the papers and various magazines.

We were the Principal Contractors for a Station Outage in South Wales which took up three months and proved very successful, in controlling hundreds of contractors it passed without incident, accidents on time and within budget.

2012 is our 20th birthday, so we hope to be celebrating in style at some point during the year, we are continuing to reinvest in equipment and plant and the work started already this year is something new, we are repairing a land drainage culvert by concreting in situ without diverting or pumping over and will have some video and photos of our effort on here soon, so watch this space.

Good luck to you all this year!
